in your world I have no meaning, though I'm trying hard to understand

after a hiatus that lasted way too long and plunged me into deep depression and xenophobia, gilmore girls was finally back last night with a FRESH episode. during this break a new pope was appointed, baseball returned to our nation's capital and my hay fever started acting up like a mudderfadder.

nothing makes me happier than knowing i'll get to spend some quality time with my stars hollows gang. while i was so relieved they were back in my life at first, i wound up with conflicting feelings by the time they left. i'm not sure if i enjoyed their visit. in fact, i'm a little angry they made me wait so long...and for this? when townie andrew walks by and says he has to catch a freshep of 'summerland,' sure, i giggled. i'm not one to thumb my nose down at meta-irony. that scene with paris (did she shrink over the hiatus, btw), kirk, rory and lorelei in the kitchen? absolutely precious. i couldn't stop laughing despite the absurdity of it. zach hiding from lane cause bluegrass is not rock and roll - adorable (though we all know lane is way more adorable with 4 eyes instead of 2). ok so that was all and well, but what i couldn't deal with was non-grumpy luke. he was too damn happy throughout and i just wasn't having any of it.

we all know luke has a heart of gold underneath that flannel and would do anything for his sweets lorelei, but his exurberance over lorelei's inn being the focus of a magazine piece strucks me as a little excessive. he nearly jumped out of his workboots fawning over lorelei. i know, i know, this is all setting us up for some grande finale where luke will probably propose so they can live happily ever after in that gorgeous house that once belonged to old man whatshisname who passed away during the scene before the opening credits, but it's just not what i was expecting.

ok and what was up with fetus-face crying on her mother's lap in the bathroom moaning, "why doesn't he like me?" do i really need to spell it out for you lorelei leigh gilmore the second? and was sookie drunk during the entire episode? did she really like the diorama? and when will taylor doose be outed? have you ever wondered why doose is pronounced do-see and not doo-see? I have! and what was up with jared padelecki's hair. it was so feathered! i did like the "you're just a townie just like me" twist but didn't we cover this already?

one thing i really thought was funny were those shirts taylor made the museum staff wear. they all put the shirts on over their existing clothes! did anyone else laugh at that?

my favorite youthlarge moment of the show was when you cried out "she looks so korean in this scene!" i felt like such a bastard reminding you that she is japanese.

It was a shit episode, I agree. I have maybe diffrent issues like:

1. Lane is a prude and its annoying. To rock you must accept premarital sex.

2. The "big picture" - Lorelei is going to flip out in a bad way about the house and their will be all this stupid manufactured drama, that is anti why the show has been great this season.

3. The 'boyfriends" dilema. Paris, while good for a few laughs in her desperation, but c'mon this is unrealistic, are we to beleive that 3 weeks ago these guys are gaga over these babes and now nothing?!?!??! Paris' beau was goofy for her AND they were hysterical on screen WHY FUCK UP GOOD THINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cant believe it took a month to come up with that episode!!!!!!

i am totally not into lane the prude. if anyone has epitomized rebellion on this show, it's been lane. and not saying have pre-martial romps is being rebellious, but come on! she's totally into zach and she so wants to knock boots and she's letting mama kim's haunting voice stop her? if rory can have sex, then lane can too!

I missed this episode because I forgot to DVR it and Mike and I were watching your beloved Mets massacre the Phillies...I figured you would appreciate that. Alas, it seems like I didn't miss all that much.

the episode needed more of Rory, Paris, and Lane getting drunk off miss patti's punch. that part ended way too quickly and led to everyone being pathetic about boys. too realistic, especially rory crying on the bathroom floor, "why doesn't he like me?" ugh.

i'm hoping that this episode was set-up for a big may sweeps pay-off, even if it involves the inevitable lorelei freakout.

heathalouise: what is your take on chase utley?

planbreaker: was this the second time we've seen Lane drink? i think the last time was the first time and she puked in the bushes at kyle's parents house - where the crazy rager took place season 2 maybe?

Yeah, I think the only other time Lane was drunk was when she called Mrs. Kim to tell her she was dating Adam Brody. I feel like time passes differently on this show. When they take three weeks off, they actually skip three weeks of the action too. Is that normal? I wonder what will happen with the house. I don't think Lorelai is interested in it, I suppose it is leading toward an end-of-season crisis of some kind. I took Luke's interest in the magazine to be linked to what Dean said about them being hicks and holding the Gilmores back. Luke wanted to be super encouraging about her media exposure so he doesn't get left behind.

Oh my Christ, I feel like I've wandered into Gilmore central. I only got into it at the turn of the year when Beth did a sewing class, it was cold and wintery and i was sucked in.

I definitely felt like something was off for at least the first half of this, but i thought it was just me; i didn't buy exuberant Luke either, and i was kind of shocked at what a standard-TV-plot-device the "Lane spies Zach w/ Carole King and gets the wrong idea" thing was. I was also disappointed that Lorelai had the story pulled. Next week's seems promising, tho!

Note to self: watch less Discovery Times Channel and less NESN so that I can blend seamlessly into this alien world and take good field notes...
